Boiron is a manufacturer of homeopathic products, headquartered in France and with an operating presence in 59 countries worldwide. It is the largest manufacturer of homeopathic products in the world.

Challenge

Boiron, an established homeopathic medicine manufacturer, and distributor wanted a game-based training program that helps with learner engagement and retention. They were looking for an opportunity to create a fresh training approach that allows learners to evaluate real-life situations related to consultation and patient communication. Boiron felt that this active game-based type of learning would be more effective as opposed to having their pharmacists just memorize the content.

Strategy & Solution

Boiron harnessed The Training Arcade® to modernize its traditional pen-and-paper games, transforming them into dynamic digital experiences that can be easily shared via URL and monitored in real-time through a learner analytics dashboard. By developing custom games, Boiron crafted content that reflects the nuanced, human-centered challenges healthcare professionals face when prescribing homeopathic medicine. The approach prioritizes consensus-building over definitive right or wrong answers, encouraging thoughtful decision-making based on the given scenarios.

Leveraging The Training Arcade®'s diverse suite of learning tools, Boiron incorporated interactive game formats such as Sort-It, Trivia, and Detective. These immersive simulations enabled learners to engage with realistic scenarios, providing hands-on experience with the complexities of their field.

Sort-It: A grid-based matching game where learners categorize components by memory, reinforcing connections between terms and subjects.

Trivia: A quick, easy-to-build game featuring the top 25 questions pharmacists ask. Response time and accuracy data helped identify the most challenging topics for deeper exploration in the Detective game.

Detective: A scenario-based game focused on decision-making. Instead of a police inquiry, Boiron customized it as a consultation where learners analyze patient responses to determine the best homeopathic treatment, receiving feedback on their choices.

Results

The Training Arcade’s analytics dashboard provided real-time tracking of gameplay results, offering valuable insights into learner performance and engagement. Boiron leveraged this data to identify trends, assess effectiveness, and refine future training strategies. The results revealed a clear pattern—repeated gameplay led to greater knowledge retention, reinforcing the value of interactive learning.
